The next big thing in Commercial Aviation flies today
It has been delayed for a couple of years, but the 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to take flight for the first time today.
The 787 takes advantage of new materials, composites, that should reduce the wear and tear caused by the higher pressuraization that is required by the current aluminum airframes and skins used by passenger aircraft.
The story from CNN:

Other advantages will be better air-quality in the plane and more comfort on the longer flights that Boeing is targeting the 787 as a solution. Flying may be a pain these days, but the Dreamliner is supposed to help.
So, if they do finally expand…what should they be called?
Big 12 is obviously taken. So, what do they call themselves, the Really Big 12?
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays….your driving SUCKS!!
Ok, so I do not have a problem with people saying Happy Holidays. I really don’t. It is an all inclusive that fits from Thanksgiving through the Eastern Orthodox Christmas in early January.
When someone says “Happy Holidays” in an attempt to be Politically Correct, then I understand the outrage.
BUT DO NOT jump off the deep end and ASSUME that everyone who says “Happy Holidays” is trying to be PC. I have been known to say “Happy Holidays” and I am about as far from Politically Correct as you can get, without being a bigot.
I guess my point it. Chill out folks. Know the intent of the person issuing the greeting before you ASSUME. You know what happens when you ASSUME, right?
Speaking of the holidays, why does it seem that everyone, well everyone except my fine readers, lose the ability to drive decently.
Coming home tonight, everyone on Hwy. 50 decided to go 45 in a 65….even in the left lane. AND the weather was fine. Also, there was no congestion.
Then, I got to the HyVee (grocery store for those of you outside the Midwest) and the parking lot idiots were in full force. Some pinhead in an SUV was waiting for a parking space FOUR spaces closer than an open space that the SUV was blocking. I was able to get my car around the large SUV and take the space. After parking, I walked by the driver and beat them into the store. Oh, and I was kinder to the environment along the way.
Luckily, I have not seen anyone drive the wrong direction in a unidirectional parking lot in a while, but I am certain that is due to happen. I did see several people who were showing general cluelessness while in the parking lot. Guess why?
Phone to the ear. Rhianna has some advice for you. “Shut Up and Drive!”
All for now. Comment as you see fit.
